As part of their English project assignments,our high school students gave speeches to the middle school students about the topics they have chosen themselves. The presentations were well prepared and interesting. There were various speeches about different topics such as their favorite authors, the exam system in Turkish education, the ways to improve English and so on.  We appreciate the work they have put into their assignments, and hope to see more in the future.

What is a "snapword"? It's an art in which you try to picture any English word in such a way that when someone sees it for the first time grasps the meaning. It's a creative and funny way of expressing and learning new English words. We got more than a hundred work of art from all the students in our middle school. We thank to all our students who made a contribution in our competition. We also would like to thank to our school administration and especially our principle Mr.Abdülkadir IŞIK for his endless support to our English team. The evaluation of snapwords was made in three stages by English teachers. In the first stage we selected the best 50 snapwords by voting. Then we had a second elimination and we chose the best 10 snapwords. Here we asked the opinion of other teachers and administration and chose the best 4 snapwords. Then we put those 4 pictures on a survey online and asked the participant teachers to number them from 1 to 4. The 1st snapword prize 300TL went to Asiye Divleli from 6A, the 2nd prize 200TL went to Zeynep Yılmaz from 7B, the 3rd prize 100TL went to Zeynep Bakansız from 5C, and the 4th prize 50TL went to Gülsüm Sena Çelik from 5C. On Friday, March 19, 2019 as Muslims in Christchurch, New Zealand gathered at the mosque for their weekly communal prayer, a terrorist was plotting what would be the worst terrorist attack on New Zealand soil. A white supremacist entered the Al Noor Mosque, was greeted by one of the members, an elder named Dawood, and the proceeded to murder and mame the congregation members as they stood for prayer.

As the news was published and more and more information was released, and the number of victims of the shooting increased, we began to feel sadness, anger and hopelessness. What could we do to honor these victims? How could we speak out against the hatred? Living so far away, as young students what could we do that would help? In Islam we are told to “want for your brother/sister, what you want for yourself.” We knew based on this it was our duty to spread awareness, remember the victims, and create something positive. Thus, the Şehit Adil Buyuk Cengiz “50 Lives” memorial was made.

The grade 9 students each selected one victim of the New Zealand shooting to write a biography for. Pictures of the victims, and information about who they were, were then put on display right at the school entrance for all to see. In addition, an interactive portion at the bottom of the memorial was added, where students, teachers and guests can write messages and thoughts.  Inshallah it is one small action, that will be healing and educational for many.

May Allah grant all of these martyrs the highest level of Paradise, and may He unify our Muslim community and the world.

As The Travel and Info.Club we went to watch theatre play called 'Mice and People'which was one of the planned events of December at Pendik  Yunus Emre  Culture Center.The Principle Abdulkadir Işık,Literature teache Bilgen Kocakuşak ,Qur'an teacher Ümmühan Uyan and Club Mentor Mrs.Şalcı accompanied to the students and the parents.These kind of art events of the club  will continue...

 Our school celebrated the People with Disability Week in an educatory programme that is full of emotion and also rises awareness.The programme became more colourfull and meaningfull with the attandance of our disabled friends.Visually-impared couple Özgür and Seval Güneş,Hearing-impared İbrahim Çetin,Coda Sign Language Trainer Hakan Şengün and Walking-disabled Ayşegül İnan joined and honoured us.The common massege they gave together is:The number of disabled people would be zero with a good family,a caring teacher and sensitive people around.....
